Bursting with citrus, stone fruit, and zesty acidity, Albariño is the fresh and vibrant white wine you've been waiting for.

Why Albariño?

We absolutely love Albariño and we reckon it has found an exciting new home here in New Zealand.

This vibrant white wine naturally pairs with seafood and offers a fresh, zingy experience - similar to Sauvignon Blanc, but with a flavour profile driven more by citrus and stone fruit.

From a viticulture perspective, Albariño is a joy to grow. Some of the key reasons include:

  • Early ripening, typically just after Chardonnay

  • Open bunch architecture, thanks to broad, branched clusters

  • Small, flavour-packed berries

  • Naturally low susceptibility to powdery mildew

  • Resilient against botrytis

  • Deep-rooted, vigorous vines, which reduces dependence on irrigation

  • Moderate yields, ensuring intensity and quality

Albariño thrives in our maritime, coastal growing regions and delivers a uniquely expressive style. With global demand for fresh, delicious white wines, Albariño makes a perfect addition to New Zealand’s offering. Its flavour profile spans a wide range of consumer preferences, making it highly versatile.

We’re proud to be the only label producing Albariño across multiple regions. On the East Coast, vineyards in Hawke’s Bay and Gisborne are crafting sensational examples. The warmer maritime climate delivers an outstanding balance of fruit purity, concentration, and natural acidity - resulting in a consistently fresh and zesty wine.

We’re backing Gisborne and Hawke’s Bay 100%. It’s incredibly rewarding to work alongside passionate growers who share our love for Albariño.

We truly believe New Zealand Albariño has a bright future. It adds a fresh chapter to our country’s wine story. Naturally adventurous and bursting with flavour, Albariño walks a tightrope of zesty acidity - just the kind of exciting wine experience people are craving today.
